About the event

Gas water heaters don't last forever—and when yours finally gives out, the easy thing to do is to replace it with another gas heater. But what are your options if you want to electrify instead? Electric water heating, including heat pump water heaters, is a great option now, eliminating the 2nd highest emitter in your home and without breaking the bank.

As with any change in a major system in your home, it can be nerve-wracking to make the switch to electric. Kasper Gruszczynski from Windfall Ecology Centre will break down all the common speedbumps, like upfront and operating costs of electric water heating, and help you cut through the capacity question: the difference between on-demand and tank heaters, what "first hour recovery rate" actually means for your household, and how much hot water a typical shower or load of laundry really uses — so you can find the right sized system with confidence instead of guesswork.

He'll also get into useful (but less known!) equipment like drain water heat recovery (a clever way to reclaim heat from water going down the drain), and mixing valves, which boost both safety and capacity.

You'll leave this webinar with a clear picture of your electric water heating options, real cost comparisons, and the confidence to ask the right questions when you talk to a contractor.
