Torontonians burn A LOT of natural gas to heat our homes. It's our city's #1 source of pollution — more than cars, more than power plants. Toronto's #1 polluter is our gas furnaces.
Heat pumps will fix that. They're the best way to have modern, clean heating in Toronto homes. Heat pumps can also eliminate two of the greatest dangers of natural gas heating: gas leaks and carbon monoxide poisoning.
But getting a heat pump can be more complex than swapping an old gas furnace for a new one. Furnaces are also cheaper...so most Torontonians won't get a heat pump the next time their furnace dies. We'd love to change that.

We're a nonprofit — we share best practices and bust myths. We started as a group of neighbours trying to help make each other's homes healthier and better for the environment.
We also support neighbourhood groups. These groups connect curious homeowners with people who have already made the switch. Our 8 partner groups across the city hold events every month.
